Important Dates
- Apprenticeship Portal Registration:
- Candidates must register on the Apprenticeship portal www.nats.education.gov.in before applying.
- Only candidates with 100% complete profiles are eligible.
- Registration begins from 18.09.2024 onwards (if not already registered).
- Online Registration for Apprenticeship in the Bank:
- Opening Date: 21.09.2024
- Closing Date: 04.10.2024 (both days inclusive)
Eligibility Criteria & Other Details
Nationality/Citizenship: A candidate must be:
- 1. Citizen of India
- 2. Subject of Nepal
- 3. Subject of Bhutan
- 4. Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement
- 5. Person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India
For candidates under categories (ii), (iii), (iv), and (v), a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India is required.
EXAMINATION FEE: Candidates will have to pay the prescribed fee as per their community/category detailed below:

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS – ONLINE REGISTRATION & SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION
1. Candidates can choose training seats in only one state. They can provide their district preferences within the selected state, but the final allotment will depend on the Bank’s needs and the availability of training seats in those districts.
2. The Bank reserves the right to assign training seats in any district of the selected state based on administrative requirements.registration of application.
3. Candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria before applying.
4. For details and updates, candidates should regularly check the Bank’s website under the “Careers” section for the Engagement of Graduate Apprentice for FY 2024-25.
Other Terms and Conditions
Period of Apprenticeship Training
The period of Apprenticeship Training will be one year.
Place of Training
The on-job training will be imparted to the candidates at selected branches as per the course/curriculum.
Profile: Apprentice.
Note: The candidates engaged as Apprentices will not be treated as “employees” of Canara Bank and will not be entitled to receive any benefits available to employees of the Bank.
Stipend
A monthly stipend of Rs. 15,000/- (including subsidy, if any, by Govt. of India) will be paid to the apprentice during the apprenticeship period.
Canara Bank will make a payment of Rs. 10,500/- into the apprentice’s account monthly. Government share of Rs. 4,500 will be credited directly to the apprentice’s account through DBT mode as per guidelines.
Apprentices are not eligible for any other allowances/benefits.
Hours of Work
The Apprentice shall receive On Job Training (OJT) during working hours as applicable to the clerical cadre of the Bank.
Overtime
Apprentices shall not be required or allowed to work overtime except with the approval of the Apprenticeship Adviser, and only if it is in the interest of the apprentice’s training or the public interest.
Leave
Apprentices are entitled to one casual leave per month, totaling 12 CLs per year. No other type of leave is applicable. Up to 4 CLs can be taken at once. Accumulated leave will be exhausted at the end of the contract.
Holidays
Apprentices are entitled to holidays observed at the Bank where training is being conducted.
Conduct and Discipline
In the event of misconduct by an apprentice, the Bank reserves the right to terminate the contract. Apprentices are prohibited from joining or forming union bodies.
Termination of Apprenticeship Contract
The contract will terminate on the expiry of the apprenticeship period. Either party may apply to the Apprenticeship Adviser for contract termination. If an apprentice does not report on time or is involved in misconduct, the contract may be terminated with 7 days’ notice.
Other Information
- Labour laws, such as PF, ESI, and Bonus, do not apply to apprenticeships.
- Canara Bank is under no obligation to offer regular employment during or after the apprenticeship.
- A state-category-wise waitlist will be maintained for one year or until the next engagement exercise. Candidates from the waitlist may be released against non-joining, subject to qualified candidates being available.

Selection Process Stage | Details |

Merit List Preparation | State-wise merit list is prepared based on marks/percentage obtained in 12th Std (HSC/10+2)/Diploma. If candidates have the same percentage, the older candidate is ranked higher. |
CGPA/OGPA Conversion | Where CGPA/OGPA is awarded, it must be converted to percentage as per the board norms. Candidates must provide a certificate stating the conversion norms and percentage scored. |
Percentage Calculation | Percentage is calculated by dividing total marks obtained by aggregate maximum marks in all subjects, then multiplied by 100. |
Document Verification | Merit list is based on information submitted during application. Any discrepancies during Document Verification will lead to disqualification. Local language test will also be conducted. |
